All Employees, Mexico, 2002

Video, 10 min.

Who are the workers, nameless and with varying identity, who fill the slots at the major food chains like Macdonalds and others. They are the unending line of employees whose names will not be remembered, nor will their features be kept in mind for their contribution one moment after they have vacated their places in the rotating chain of which they are linked.

Okon has chosen to document this endless human rotation in the branches of the 'Karls Junior' food chain in Los Angeles, where each successive worker obliterates his predecessor.  The images of the workers - who have introduced themselves by name but remain unheard in the uproar – are piled up on top of one another, layer after layer, generating an abstract mass of nothingness.
