Shula Keshet

Shivat Zion, Israel, 2004

Color print, printed testimonies, 240x330 cm.

Place: south Tel Aviv
Time: yesterday, today, and perhaps tomorrow too.
Price: the negligible price of a visit (reception hours are of course marked up on the wall.) But the real price is what society will yet be required to pay for its neglect of the population of women imprisoned behind this wall, and many others like it.

Who are these women whose bodies and desires are imprisoned behind it?  How cynical is the slogan written up on the fasade  HAVE A GOOD TIME?

This work poses numerous questions about ourselves and the manifestation of women being trafficked in our midst. Is it not high time to condemn and eliminate this phenomenon, which has became an established institution amongst us?
